Project: Local warmth —microclimates of the home

Challenge: How might we warm people rather than space at home?

Research: Developping a material with aluminium waste to warm our body.

Description:

While investigating local factories in Brooklyn, I discovered an old printing factory throwing out used offprint aluminium sheets. Interested with aluminium’s heating properties, I started to experiment with it, making bricks with concrete.

Mapping the microclimates of my home, I identified the space of the desk for a design intervention. Therefore, I decided to use my material for the design of a foot rest
— Local heat during the day

— Local heat at night

— Hot and cold flux across the day
— Products generating heat (blanket, teapot, or heaters)

—  The warming plate is made to be heated in an oven (after using it or at low temperature). If you have a central heating system, you can also suspend the plate to it. Last solutution, place a warm bol of water underneath.
